Tone Activity for the whole class. Students recite a simple sentence using a designated tone. Sentences are supplied from a PowerPoint or Task Cards. Spin or choose a task card to determine the tone. The class will fill out a follow along worksheet with the opportunity to compare and contrast the sentences.
This a great activity to help the students understand what to look for when determining the tone of a text.
This can be used for introducing tone. I continue to use this as a time filler you only need a few minutes. You can throw a sentence or two on the board and select a tone. Have a student recite the sentence and discuss the tone and what made the sentence have a particular tone.
Tone Activity includes:
PowerPoint with basic instructions and 28 sentences
28 Sentence Task Cards (Same Sentences as PowerPoint)
8 Tone Task Cards
Tone Spinner (Same Tones as on Task Cards)
Follow Along Recording Sheet
This is a hard concept. The students need to practice and practice some more.
