The literary concepts of Tone and Mood can be difficult to understand. However, using the gradual release process and attention grabbing techniques, students are able to grasp the difference between these two terms. This lesson uses poetry to reinforce these terms as well as other literary devices such as figurative language and poetry techniques. It also reiterates citing evidence to justify students’ answers. This lesson has been highly effective with my students due to the repetition within the gradual release process.
The lesson includes the following:
• 19 SmartBoard Slides including Bell Work and Content Objectives (Editable)
• 5 Worksheets using the Gradual Release Process
• Detailed Lesson Plan
• Vocabulary Graphic Organizer
