My students love a good challenge. However, many of them struggle greatly in the area of fluency, especially accuracy skills. I want to meet them where they are but also push them to try something new. Many kids love riddles and silly-sounding sentences, so I gave tongue twisters a try. They took off!
There are 40 cards within this PDF for you to print. They are numbered for easy recall and tracking. I use these in small groups as a warm-up activity to introduce a specific sound (digraph or vowel combination), or as an early finisher activity. To teach accuracy and phrasing, I model the tongue twister first and then students practice. The kids also like to challenge their classmates to see how many they can say correctly.
I like to hole punch my cards and secure with a binder ring for easy storage and retrieval, but you can laminate and rubber band the cards together just as easily.
Directions on how to print the cards are in the PDF file as well.
I welcome your feedback! Please let me know how these work out for you and your students.
