Students will read Tony Baloney by Pam Munoz Ryan & Erwin Fotheringham and use graphic organizers to complete tiered questions based off Fountas & Pinnell “about the text, within the text and beyond the text” model. Questions include but are not limited to
* problem/ solution
* recognizing characters and setting
* making text-to-self connections
* comparing & contrasting using a venn diagram
* authors purpose
All of these skills are practiced while using text based evidence to support student answers! This can be done in a small group, individually, with partners or as a teacher directed lesson. Great resource for guided reading, shared reading, read-to-self or read-to someone!
