When reading persuasive texts, students need to understand the difference between arguments, claims, and reasons. The Argument, Claims, and Reasons lesson, for grades 4–8, will help your students learn that difference and the relationship between the elements of an argument. This lesson includes a definition, an explanation of how the skill is used, an example, and practice questions. This lesson can kick off a reading lesson or serve as an impromptu refresher of skills already introduced. The lesson also includes a separate Answer Key PDF.
