The point of view of the narrator or speaker is an important literary element. Being able to identify and analyze point of view prepares students to engage with the text and dig deeply into meaning. The Point of View lesson, for grades 4–8, will help your students identify point of view based on text evidence. This lesson includes a definition, an explanation of how the skill is used, an example, and practice questions with excerpts from real books. The Point of View lesson can kick off a reading lesson or serve as an impromptu refresher of skills already introduced. The lesson also includes a separate Answer Key PDF.
