This childhood favorite game is transformed to check for student understanding of the geology concept - topographic maps. Suitable for review of topography, satellite views, contour intervals, weathering, and landform matching.
Directions for Use after folding:
.Begin with the thumb and index fingers of each hand in the four pockets of the Fortune Teller. Have the person whose fortune is being read pick one of the colors/numbers on the top four flaps.
.If the number is 4, count to 4 while alternating a pinching and pulling motion with the Teller for each number.
.Each pinch will expose four of the categories on the inner flaps, and each pull will expose the other four categories.
.After counting 1-2-3-4, the Teller will be showing one of the sets of four question categories.
.The other player will then pick one of those categories (i.e. “contour interval”)
.The Teller will lift up the “Contour Interval” flap and read the question. The other player needs to respond correctly to the question.
.If the player does not respond correctly, the Teller should explain the correct answer. The other player should do a “teach back” to confirm their understanding.
.Partners should switch roles (The teller should become the responder and the responder should become the teller)
.Repeat steps 1-8 until all question in the categories have been answered.
