This is a four part unit by Reading Through History that is geared towards reading test preparation for the 5th grade reading test. This download includes lessons covering tornadoes and how they form, a writeup on the deadliest tornadoes in U.S. history, a tornado safety lesson, and an excerpt from a piece of fiction that describes what it is like experiencing a tornado. It also includes 19 pages of student activities that involve: constructed response and descriptive writing paragraphs, vocabulary activities, a timeline activity, and multiple choice quizzes to gauge reading comprehension. Every reading topic also includes questions geared toward the 4th and 5th grade Common Core literature and reading standards. The packet includes everything needed to cover four days in a standard reading class.
