Here is a Tortilla recipe for most basic students. I used it in my 6th grade Exploratory Spanish classes. It is great motivation for students to read and understand the recipe so that they can make it!
I always have students circle cognates, underline learned vocabulary, use the context (in this case a recipe) and then I have them translate it. I usually allow them to work in groups or pairs and have them cook in groups as well! It's a fun and different day for any beginning class! (Also, I recognize my errors in using "es" instead of "sea". I did that on purpose for the sake of the beginning students.)
