Toss, Trace, and Read (TTR) is a fun way for students to practice reading and writing high-frequency words. TTR is a great game to provide as a center activity or an option for students who finish their work earlier. Each worksheet focuses on developing students' reading and writing fluency with four of the pre-primer sight words. Students are asked to place their worksheet on a desk or the floor before gently tossing a cotton ball or pompom into the air above their paper. Whatever word it lands on or closest to, is the the word that the student must trace and then read. This activity also provides students with the opportunity to work at a pace that is right for them and select the group of words that would be the most beneficial to practice.
