Use a set of playing cards Ace- 9.
Place 6 cards face up on a dice mat and keep the rest face down in a pile.
Roll the dice.
Use the cards and any of the 4 operations to ‘make’ the number you rolled on the dice. Aim to use at least two steps in your equation.
Explain your thinking: While one player thinks aloud to explain how they are reaching their target number, the other partner records their thinking as an equation.
Keep the cards you used to make your number.
Make sure you have 6 cards facing up each time you have a turn.
After 10 turns, count up to see who has the most cards – they are the winner!
