Total Solar Eclipse Activities: Total Solar Eclipse Memory Book, Newspaper Article, Writing Paper and Posters
These activities were designed to be used after the solar eclipse has occurred but contain modifications so that they can be used at any point during your 2017 Eclipse Unit.
Included in this resource are several mix and match activities with modifications for easy differentiation.
Posters – 5 full size color posters for classroom display.
Memory book with 2 options
Option 1 - Students color the pictures, then cut and
paste the text in the boxes
Option 2 – Students color the pictures then write
their own text on the lines provided.
Since this is a memory book, it was designed to be used as a follow-up lesson so the cut and paste text is past tense, but in case you want to use it before the eclipse there is also a page of future tense cut and paste text.
The last two pages are for the students to write where they viewed or will view the eclipse, who they viewed or will view it with and draw a picture and write about what they saw or think they will see.
Two optional blank pages are included for you to provide additional information if desired.
Newspaper Article – After completing the Memory Book and/or the teacher’s choice of materials, and viewing the eclipse, students compose a newspaper article. This is a fun activity to put inside a time capsule. 3 different versions with different size lines and spaces are provided.
Writing Paper – 5 designs and 2 size lines and spaces for a total of 10 writing paper sheets.
*Please note the posters are the same as those in Solar Eclipse for Little Fingers.
