This worksheet is a fill-in-the-blank activity in which students use the book in order to find vocabulary from chapter 8. Students are then able to see the author's (Ben Mikaelsen) vivid use of descriptive words to create an image of Cole's injuries and must determine the "imagery" words and list. Students can then also use the descriptions to illustrate the injuries on the picture of Cole. This way, students can see how certain words provide a mental image of in terms of the five sense: sight, sound, touch, taste, and smell.
This activity is great for sub plans, for students that finish reading early, or busy work. With the illustration piece, it also provides something to hang on the wall to display what students have been learning!
