Students will practice basic addition with this touchpoint math activity center. As students count the TouchPoints, they associate numerals with real values. They learn that a numeral (4, for instance) is not just a squiggle on a page. It represents a quantity such as four bananas, four ladybugs, four trees or four "TouchPoints."
Students will flip over two cards and place them on the mat. The teacher may wish to provide young students with small round manipulatives (ex: buttons, play-dough balls, erasers, etc.) that they can place on each touch point dot. This provides for interactive hands-on sensory learning. Then students will use a dry-erase marker to write each number sentence. A student recording sheet is also provided.
