This is a multi-week project (could take anywhere from a week to a month depending on how much time you get to devote to Social Studies) where students work in groups researching a region of the U.S. Each student is a "travel agent" working with their "travel agency" to persuade the other "travelers" (classmates) to visit their region over all the others. Each student in the group is responsible for researching different things according to the themes of geography (physical features, maps, famous landmarks, famous people, weather, climate, etc). Each of these researching roles is differentiated for higher and lower learners. In the end, students combine their research to create a poster or power point or some sort of product to present to the class. They also create a sample suitcase with items that they pack to represent this region. All the directions and rubrics and research sheets are provided!
