This 9-slide Powerpoint presentation compares the Day of the Dead with Halloween with side-by-side photos noting many differences. Brief, simple text easily read by students 2nd grade & up. It includes instructions to draw a skull using basic geometric shapes then add symmetrical designs to make it a "sugar" skull. Appropriate for 1st grade and up. To complete the project, students will need paper on which to draw, circle templates or paper plates, markers and/or crayons. This presentation promotes cultural awareness and math concepts (geometric shapes, symmetry) The presentation plus activity should take 30-45 min depending on age of student.
