My preschoolers love hotwheel cars! I created this resource with them in mind :) It's a fun way for children to learn the fundamentals of writing the numbers 1-10. It is also and opportunity for them to count, and trace those numbers, as well.
This product is meant to be used with small toy cars (Matchbox, Hotwheels, etc.).
Have the child drive over the numbers (track) using the "green light" to start, follow the road signs and then come to a stop at the "red light". After driving over the number have the child park the car. The coned parking lot acts as a ten frame. Have them repeat the process until they have reached the number of cars that match the number of the track.
I designed this game to align to the Preschool Foundational and Kindergarten Readiness Standards used in my state, which are:
Begin to count to 10 by ones
In the sequence 1-10, understand that numbers come “before” or “after” one another
Count a number of objects 0-10 and associate with a written numeral
Understand the relationship between numbers and quantities; connect counting to cardinality
Count as many as 10 objects arranged in a line.
With modeling and support, identify whether the number of objects in one group is greater than, less than, or equal to the number of objects in another group (e.g., by using matching and counting
Associate quantities with written numerals 1–10.
