Traders and Travelers
Our middle school Global Gateway curriculum is designed to provide you and your students with essential attitudes, skills and knowledge for global citizenship, while exploring the complexity of current global issues. Through embedded social entrepreneurship principles, it promotes an understanding of the student as an active participant in the world, with an important role and crucial responsibilities.
The curriculum is aligned to the Common Core Standards, P21 Standards - 21st Century Skills, National Educational Technology Standards, and Career Technical Education Standards and organized in the following six main themes: Global Society, Global Geography, Global Environment, Global Education, Global Economy, Global Politics.
"Traders and Travelers" is one of three in a Global Geography unit. Students will study the Earth and its people from the human perspective. Students will investigate the effect of geography on the distribution of people and resources worldwide, on world economies and on socio-cultural activities. They will also study transportation and traders/travelers, relating these concepts to selected social entrepreneurship regions of study.
