A great maths game for many ages!
Game name: Traffic Lights
Number of players: 2
Age/level: I’ve played this with 6 year olds with great success...and then our staffroom full of teachers got addicted too, so I’m going to say 6+!
Resources: a 3x3 grid, coloured counters (tiles, lego, paper, etc) in green, yellow and red (at least 7 of each)
Aim: be the first to make a row (in any direction) of 3 tiles of the same colour (e.g. all green)
How to Play:
Take turns placing tiles on to the grid, or changing the colour of other tiles following these rules:
If the square is empty you may only place a green tile
Green tiles can only be changed to yellow
Yellow tiles can only be changed to red
Red tiles can only be changed to green
You are trying to make a complete row in one colour, the first to do so wins.
