I use this traffic light as a visual in my classroom. Typically during math assessments, I have students “traffic light” their assessment. After a student answers a question, they reflect on how well they know the content.
-If a student is having difficulty with the question, they circle the question number red.
-If they are unsure of the question, they circle the question number yellow.
-If they are confident and understand the question and could explain it to a friend, they circle the question number green.
This a great reflective tool for students as well as teachers. It also allows parents to see what the student is feeling comfortable with as well as having trouble with when the assessment is sent home.
