Product Description
Traffic Town is a hands-on way to teach students about that big fancy word...TRANSPORTATION! This pack includes 3 sorting mats, one each for sky, water, and land in which to sort 15 different modes of transportation. Also included is the open-ended Traffic Town game board, which you can use in conjunction with any materials you already have.

Here's a snippet of what you can do with the sorting mats...you can target just about everything!

Receptive Language
-Sort vehicles by land, sea, and sky
-Ask wh- questions and students can identify receptively (Where does a boat go?; What goes in the water?)
-Divide the pictures between the students and have them answer the question (Who has___?); turn it into a vocabulary activity by describing a picture and have them identify the ones they may have (ex. Who has something that floats on the water and has a sail?)

Expressive Language
-Answer wh-questions
Who drives/flies/steers a ___?
Where can you see a ___?
What does a ___ do?
Where can a ___ take you?
Who rides in/on a ___?
When would you ride in/on a ___?
Why would you ride in/on a ___?
Why ride a ___ instead of a ___?

Vocabulary
-Compare 2 similar (such as ship and sailboat)
or different pictures (sailboat and hot air balloon)
-Contrast the same way!
-Describe by category, function, features.
-Have students guess each others descriptions!

Articulation
-Have students repeat simple versions of the pictured items and describers, such as boat, ship, car, truck, dump, rocket, up, go, fast, slow, water, road, bus, plane, bike, big, little, etc.
-Repeat simple phrases (go car, big boat, my bus, etc

Help your students "move" their skills to the next level!
