This fun and interactive game allows students to engage with the text in an active, thought-provoking, and creative way. In groups, students will select a Jenga block from the stack. The questions are colored by difficulty level and are tailored to fit a text with a tragic hero. You will need to color dots on the outside of the Jenga blocks and write numbers on the inside. You can project the questions on the board (or print a handout for the table group). They can’t see the numbers before they pick, but they can see the colored dot on the outside so they know difficulty level before selecting. Most of these are universal to any story, but can also be edited to fit your novel/play. This game would be great as a review game, test prep, or as a last minute time-filler at the end of class. The activity includes 54 questions (12 easy, 30 medium, and 12 difficult) as well as a score card to easily keep kids engaged and having fun an entire 90 minute class period.
