Train Tracks for Final Consonants FREEBIE No Prep!
Pairs with the book "Old Tracks New Tricks" by Jessica Peterson
by Innovation Press
Color and Black & White pages included!
The book "Old Tracks New Tricks" is a darling book about new train tracks teaching old train tracks that it is okay be different and try something new! It is a wonderful story with amazing real illustrations. You can find the book on Amazon by searching the title, or you can find a link to it in this download.
This FREEBIE contains images from the book and is a great way to work on final consonants after reading the book. Your students will love how the images on the pages/mats match the book! This product can also be used as a stand alone product for students who love trains!
This product was designed to target final consonant deletion. A full pack is available that contains pages for the following processes: final consonant deletion, cluster reduction (initial sblends), stopping, and velar fronting. I also created visual cues for each process. This activity is perfect for pk-1st grade depending on skill level. I use these pages with the book as a companion to target phonological processes.

☆ Final p
☆ Final b
☆ Final m
☆ Final n
☆ Final t
☆ Final d
☆ Final k
☆ Final g
☆ Final s
☆ Mixed final consonants

Suggested Uses:
→ Use with trains or train tracks: If you have similar trains and tracks you can use them to cover up the images on the pages/mats as you practice the words. If you use a train piece, the student can drive the train over the track and practice the word. This can be done with the color or black & white versions.
→ Use with play dough: The student will smash play dough over each piece as they practice the word on the track. (I suggest using the color version laminated or in a page protector for this activity).
→ Use with crayons/bingo dotters: Use the black and white version. The student will color or dot each train track as they practice the word.
→ Use with bingo chips. The student will place a bingo chip over the track as they practice the word. At the end the student can scoop up the bingo chips with a magnet wand (if the chips are magnetic and you have a magnet wand to use). This can be done with the color or black & white versions.
