Introduce your students to the ideals and beliefs of the Transcendentalist movement through this fun, interactive stations activity.
Students will move through five different stations (quotes, artwork, picture book, podcast, novel) that are related to Transcendentalism in different ways. As they discuss the media with their groups, they will be learning about the basic tenets of Transcendentalism. When they have gone through all five stations (about 35 minutes), you come together as a group and discuss what you have discovered, creating an anchor chart for them to refer to as you read the works of Transcendentalist authors.
I have included instructions on completing the activities and a PDF and editable Word document with the task cards for each station. A link to the podcast is included in the resource page, along with publisher information for the books that I used. You can, of course, make adjustments to the media or the activities.
Because of copyright issues, I cannot include all of the resources that I used in the downloaded files. However, I have provided clear instructions to allow you to obtain the media quickly and easily, at no cost to you.
