Before telling your students just what Transcendentalism is, let them discover this literary movement by examining key excerpts and quotes in engaging learning stations.
After completing all stations, students will be asked to reflect upon the activity by explaining Transcendentalism in their own words.
I usually facilitate this lesson BEFORE delivering a mini-lecture on Transcendental thought. The more they can "discover" on their own through this engaging student-centered activity, the better!
