I love this assignment for so many reasons! Specifically because it lets students relate, write, and create.
This activity sheet asks students to write a poem from the perspective of nature or something in nature (i.e. cloud, fire, mountain, elephant). Then, students must turn the poem into the shape of the perspective.
Handout includes a format for students to follow as well as a poem example and shape poem example.
This activity is great to reflective the transcendentalist connection to nature. It's also fun for students, though some will admit it sooner than others.
