Teaching Transcendentalism in a way that can actually change students' lives is a powerful concept. This Transcendentalism Unit Plan assesses students' Transcendental levels before the unit, gives text-based challenges throughout the unit, and assesses their levels again after the unit to measure their Transcendentalism growth. This unit is designed to help with mindfulness, self-reliance, and connecting with nature.
Each challenge throughout the Transcendentalism Tracker Booklet takes the most import lines from Emerson and Thoreau and gives students a chance to put these words into practice.
Not only will students make real-world connections, but they will also gain close-reading and test-based question practice through my abridged versions of Emerson's Nature, Self-Reliance, and Thoreau's Walden.

✅While you can pick and choose from this unit, if you do all of the activities and project, this unit will take around 3 weeks to complete.
✅This unit can be printed or used digitally. It works in Google Classrooms, Microsoft Classrooms, and with an LMS.
⚠️ While you don't need to do all of the activities outdoors, a few can only be completed outdoors. I have tried to provide backup plans for when the weather doesn't cooperate.
