Description

Project Goal: Perform three different transformations on a figure (i.e. Translation, Rotation, and Reflection)

CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.HSG.CO.A.4
Develop definitions of rotations, reflections, and translations in terms of angles, circles, perpendicular lines, parallel lines, and line segments.

CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.HSG.CO.A.5
Given a geometric figure and a rotation, reflection, or translation, draw the transformed figure using, e.g., graph paper, tracing paper, or geometry software. Specify a sequence of transformations that will carry a given figure onto another.

Overview: Students will take a (school appropriate) image of their choosing and on the subsequent pages they will…
1.) Create a parent image (Listing the proper coordinates)
2.) Reconstruct that image after a Translation (Listing the new coordinates and the appropriate equation)
3.) Reconstruct that image after a Rotation (Listing the new coordinates, degrees rotated, and the rotation point)
4.) Reconstruct that image after a Reflection (Listing the new coordinates and the line of symmetry)

Includes:
-Student copy
-Teacher's copy (exemplar, shown with Patriots' logo)
-Student and Teacher grading rubrics
