My students love learning about transformations. I made the lesson plan so students can use an interactive notebook so you're not having to spend time at the copy machine or handing out worksheets. The Power point starts off with an introduction to the vocabulary of reflection, translation, and rotation which includes visuals. I like to incorporate other subjects into my lesson plans so I tied in rotation to the Earth's rotation which they should have already learned about in science. Then there are a few slides to play the game, which transformation is this? Next is a graphic organizer students can do in their journal to write down their own definitions and to add an example/picture for each. You can make a copy of one student or a few students work to use on the word wall. Then there are a few class activity slides where students will first plot the coordinates, then find the reflection or translation of the image, and record the new coordinates. You can have students work out the problems in groups first at their desk for cooperative learning and then do it as a whole class activity. The last slide is an exit ticket as an assessment. Please leave feedback to let me know how your students enjoyed the lesson.
