This is a full activity for the transformational geometry unit; the activity focuses on reflections and rotations.
Common core aligned and includes questioning/prompting to demonstrate UNDERSTANDING of the concept of geometrical transformations (common core focuses on understanding of these concepts).
Activity includes the following:
Group 1 task - triangle will be reflected and then rotated, and questions will be answered (make predictions, support your prediction, etc.)
Group 2 task - trapezoid will be reflected twice, and questions will be answered.
Individual task - will complete both group 1 and group 2 GRAPHING portion of the task, but without the questions.
Accountability sheet - students complete while groups 1 & 2 present their findings to the class. They must include a "noticing" and a "wondering" for each group.
The way I used this in my lesson was I had the high level group complete group 1 task and the low level group complete the group 2 task. The remaining on level students worked individually. They completed both graphing tasks without answering the questions. This allowed them to follow along during the presentations.
**the individual task is set up to have 3 per page, so that you can cut slips for the students (save paper)
**the accountability sheet is two pages, with two on each page, meant to be printed back to back. then you can cut in half and have two per page (again saving paper)
