Students practice translations, reflections, and rotations with this transformation puzzle that's perfect for Halloween, after a test, or just for extra practice.
A graph is provided with 29 shapes and instructions for transforming each one. If each transformation is applied correctly, the pumpkins become decorated on the student's answer sheet.
The transformations are mostly basic and one step, including rotating around the origin and reflecting over an axis. A few two-step transformations and reflecting over a vertical or horizontal line are included for a little challenge.
This activity is a great way to practice rigid transformations, even early in your unit. Because answer are recorded on a separate sheet, students can spin their papers to help them see rotations. Also, the puzzle helps students find their own mistakes if their pumpkin decorations do not turn out right!
Answer key is provided.
