Included in this zip folder are 9 Power Point files. 2 are for instruction, 2 are Student Printable Study Aides and 5 are assignments. A brief description of each:

Power Point Instruction file #1. This is a 35 slide Power Point that revels all 10 transformations of 5 different functions. The student can visualize the transformations made from the parent function and relate the transformations to the equation. The functions that are used to illustrate this are:

1. The squaring function y=x^2

2. The cubing function, y=x^3

3. The cosine function, y=cosx

4. The square root function, y=sqrtx

5. The natural log function, y=lnx

Power Point Instruction file #2 is 10 slides emphasizing the 10 possible transformations of a function(listed below). Visualizations are made by computer models of the absolute value function, the squaring function, the power function and the square root function.

1. Shift left/right

2. Shift up/down

3. Vertical stretch/shrink

4. Horizontal stretch/shrink

5. Vertical flip/horizontal flip

Student Printable Power Point #1 parallels the Instruction file #1. There are 5 printable slides that reveal the 10 transformations on:

1. y=sqrtx

2. y=cosx

3. y=x^2

4. y=x^3

5. y=lnx

Student Printable Power Point #2 parallels the Instructional file #2. There are 3 printable slides. They are as follows:

1. Slide 1 is all 4 shifts/translations

2. Slide 2 is all 4 stretches and shrinks

3. Slide 3 is reflecting over the x and y axis

Power Point Assignment #1. This is on 1 page for easy printing. This is a 20 question multiple answer assignment where the learner has to choose the family(families) of transformation(s) made by transposing f(x) onto g(x). The families are broken into the following"

A. Reflection family

B. Horizontal shrink/stretch family

C. Vertical shrink/stretch family

D. Horizontal translation (shift) family

E. Vertical translation (shift) family

Power Point Assignment #2. This is 24 problems where the student has to identify the correct transformation from 10 choices. It is on 1 page for easy printing.

Power Point Assignment #3. It is 24 more problems where the student must identify the correct transformation from 10 choices. This is on 1 page for easy printing

Power Point Assignment #4. This is a 20 question assignment from my quadratic functions file. The student must identify vertical and horizontal translations as well as a vertical reflection. This assignment is also on socrative.com. The socrative share number is included in the file.

Power Point Assignment #5. This is a 20 question multiple choice assignment. The student must recognize a function's equation given a graph. A graph of the parent function f(x) and the transformed function g(x) are given. The student must identify the best equation for g(x). The following functions and their graphs are used:

1. y=x^2

2. y=x^3

3. y=sqrtx

4. y=cosx

Assignment Power Point #6. This is a 20 question multiple choice assignment. The student must identify transformation rules in functional notation. A quick example is f(x+2) is a shift left from f(x). The problems are both in notation form and on graphs.

Solutions are included for all assignments
