The 11 Transition Worksheets are organized by writing purpose. Students are required to identify, select, and apply the correct word or phrase within the context of sentences and paragraphs. Answers included. Use as stand-alone lessons, in literacy groups (stations), or as mini-lessons. Learning to use precise writing transitions can significantly improve writing coherence and help the reader understand the writing as a unified whole.
Developing writers must know both the denotative and connotative meanings of commonly used transitions. Using the wrong or imprecise transition create confusion for readers.
Every student needs this practice!
