This document includes a letter where a young child is writing to his or per parents trying to persuade them to get a pet dog. The letter, which formulates an argument, uses transitional phrases to help connect ideas in the paper. Students must look at the options below the letter to decide which transitional phrases fit best. This activity is best used at the end of the week, when students have had plenty of practice on the use of transitional phrases. An answer key and teacher guide for explanation is included.
