Lesson Plan Overview

Authors use transitions and patterns of organization within the text to show relationships of ideas and to clarify main points. This lesson plan will guide students in analyzing and evaluating the effectiveness of the structure an author uses in his or her exposition or argument, including whether the structure makes points clear, convincing, and engaging. The student will analyze and demonstrate the understanding of illustration, definition and example, compare and contrast, cause and effect, along with problem and solution. This unit will specifically cover words that illustration, compare and contrast, along with cause and effect. The four-day lesson plan includes 3 student assignments and 1 summative assessment. This lesson plan includes a beautiful, engaging 42-slide PowerPoint Presentation with all instructional notes and practices included.

Grade Level: 9th Grade through College or University Levels
