Transitions and sponge activities are vital in classroom management. Transitions ensure that the time between activities is used efficiently and in an interesting manner. Sponge activities soak up time when a lesson is quick or students are too antsy to continue with your planned work. These sponge activities incorporate curriculum into spare time.
I have created a spreadsheet of activities that I have used or seen used successfully. There is space for your notes about the activities as well as space for you to add your own! Many of these activities are best suited to younger children, but most can be adapted and some are designed for older elementary and middle school students.
I printed mine out, laminated them and attached them to o-rings so that I always have them at hand.
I hope you enjoy this and come back to The Creative Classroom of Miss Pitala for more resources!
