Want to really challenge your students when it comes to translating expressions from words into algebraic form? This activity will do it!
Students are given 25 problems that they must translate from words. Students will cut apart the 25 possible solutions and glue them alongside their corresponding translations.
To make it challenging, multiple problems have been only "slightly" reworded. This requires students to pay very close attention to the wording of the problems. All problems require multiple numbers or operations when translating.
This activity worked great in my class as a DAY 2 lesson. By seeing the multiple forms side-by-side they most of my students finally were able to comprehend how small changes can play a big role on the final outcome. I hope you like it.
