This sequencing activity will provide your students with an engaging opportunity to translate polygons in the coordinate plane. More specifically, students will translate a point, line segment, triangles, quadrilaterals, and a pentagon horizontally, vertically, or a combination of both. Polygons are both regular and irregular.

To complete the activity, students will start by graphing and then translating the point on their student worksheet. If the translation is done correctly, their answer will be at the top of a card on the next page. Students cut the card with the correct answer on it out and paste it into the next available spot on their worksheet (scissors and glue required) before translating the figure on this new card and continuing on with the activity. Students are finished when they have pasted all cards onto their worksheet in the appropriate order.

This no-prep resource includes directions, student worksheets with coordinate grids, cards for students to paste in sequential order, and an answer key. Check out the preview and thumbnails to determine if this activity is appropriate for your students.
