PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Teach students about plant’s role in the water cycle using inquiry based learning.

Use this 16 mini-page guided experiment notes to teach transpiration.

Materials Needed:
-Outdoor Plant (Tree, bush, flower plant doesn’t matter)
-Ziplock Baggie
-Rubber Bands

Before you begin:
CHECK THE WEATHER! Make sure that it will not rain during this experiment.
Print all booklet pages
To make it easier on me, I pre-cut them for my students.
You could have your students glue each page together, but I found it easiest if you staple it before hand
Have students make a hypothesis of how plants help the water cycle

Beginning the experiment:
Separate students into groups of 3 or 4
Give each group a baggie & rubber band
Allow students to choose where they want to hang their baggies
Have students fill out pages 3-7 with their group
Make sure you DO NOT mention the word transpiration, but do point out the condensation forming on the inside of the baggie
Complete booklet as states on pages
At the END discuss! Make sure students understand that the sun is why this type of evaporation is occurring
