This package offers a math Transportation center activity for counting and assembling quantities. Because this is a train, quantities can be assembled to any number. The tools can even be reduced on a printer to allow assembling quantities to 50. This teaching tool offers an understanding of numbers and quantities.

Included In this package:

6 Color train mats- print as needed
1 black and white- print on colored paper for a fun and cheap alternative

How can this be used:

1. Attach a sticky magnetic back and use the train cars on a magnet board

2. Use on the carpet or a long table– children assemble the train cars according to the number on the window in a row.

3. Use with pocket chart as a teaching tool OR have Children build in the chart

4. Use with felt board– place the rough side of the Velcro on the Caboose and train cars– Children stick and build the train on a felt background


5. This Can be used to show more than-less than by comparing numbers and building the train cars according to the numbers shown. Example: comparing 3 and 6– Children build the train and can visually see that 6 is more than 3. They can also count the extra train cars to say how much longer Train 6 is from Train 3. Trains cars can be cut in sets as well (2’s, 4’s)

6. Can be used to graph with– horizontal graphs– Comparing lengths on a magnetic board.
