Developmentally appropriate Transportation themed math centers for the preschool, pre-k, and kindergarten classroom! This resource is perfect for all developmental and cognitive levels of early childhood. The centers are fun, engaging, and offer challenges and reinforcement of basic skills.
This resource is set up with 3 levels of developmentally appropriate Shapes centers for the early childhood classroom. Every class is different, every student is different, so this resource gives you the option of starting out slowly, building on what your students know, and offering a challenge as skills are mastered.
Level 1: Shape Roads
This beginning level will help students practice identifying basic shapes. There are road shape mats with circles, triangles, squares, ovals, diamonds, hexagons, hearts, pentagons, octagons, stars & rectangles. Students can ‘drive’ little cars around to form the shapes. This is a great activity for those just learning shapes, or those who need practice or a review.
Level 2: Look and Match Shapes
This activity builds on the first activity. In this activity we will use many of the same shapes from out road activity. There are 6 transportation vehicles in ‘shadow, and different shapes that can be put together and matched up to create each vehicle. Students find the exact shapes to match the shadows to create each vehicle-2 land, 2 sea, & 2 air vehicles are included.
Level 3: Shape Sorting Trucks & Cards
This center activity builds on the Road Shapes and the Shape Matching activities by adding pictures of real life shapes to the mix. This activity is great for showing that we see shapes around us each day. It is fun to add to this activity by asking the students to find something in the classroom to sort into the shape trucks as well.
