This Power Point presentation focuses on the Photographer/Sculptor, Vik Muniz, but also visits other artists such as Louise Nevelson, Mary Ellen Croteau, David Mach and Jason Mecier. These artists all use "trash" as their art medium, creating grand sculptures and reliefs using reusable trash, recyclables and found objects in order to achieve their final artwork.
The slideshow introduces the artist Vik Muniz, giving a brief biography about the artist, but then shows artwork created by other artists who also use "trash". At the end of the slideshow, it shows a variety of celebrity portraits created solely from trash by Jason Mecier. This presentation was created with the intentions of doing trash portraits with my class, which is what the last slide introduces to the students. This is a great project for ALL GRADES! The students take all kinds of clean trash, recyclables and magazines and are challenged to create a face. The slideshow, which includes this project introduction, is a great way to introduce this project, as well as other projects based on using trash.
