"Trash or Treasure" is a math center that can be used in kindergarten and first grade classrooms.
-Print and laminate the “trash” and “treasure” signs.
-Print and laminate the addition and subtraction facts and non-facts.
-Combine all trash and treasure facts in one container.
-Lay “trash” and “treasure” signs in separate areas of the classroom to provide ample room for students to sort.
-Students select a math sentence, then determine if the sentence is “trash” or “treasure.” Students will place the sentence under the corresponding sign.
-After the center group has sorted all sentences, students can complete the corresponding record sheet by recording three treasure facts and three trash non-facts.
