And be able to: Work in groups so that they may analyze ideas and concepts of time and space travel in different cultural contexts, and make connections to their own lives.
In order to: Use design concepts conceived via peer discussions that enable students to visualize the scenario and an object for the purpose of time travel.
Intended for middle school art classes, the unit focuses on futurism and the ability critically think about and brainstorm ideas that lead to the creation of a time travel machine design. Incorporating aspects of literacy through the brainstorming strategies and student participation of readings throughout the power point, students will also have to consider materials to use for their time machine and formulate a calculated reasoning as to why they will travel to the future.
Through peer discussions about materials and narrative choices students will begin to learn new and unique details about their classmates.
