Product Description
This is part of a collection of grade level Journals. This is the kindergarten/First Grade Journal.

This is a wonderful investigation exploring the two types of ways plants transport water. Students will model how vascular and nonvascular plants transport water. The investigation will help them understand how water gets to the top of a tall tree and spreads in nonvascular plants like moss. Students will follow the scientific method to answer the question:

Does the type of paper affect the distance water will travel?

Students will create a hypothesis, record observations, learn how to measure and graph, and relate their results to plants. It sounds like a lot, but it is all done at their grade level.

The journal meets the *Next Generation Science Standards:

Kindergarten: Interdependent Relationships in Ecosystems: Animals, Plants, their Environment

First Grade: Structure, Function and Information Processing

Teachers will like its’ ease of use, simple materials, and background information. Students will enjoy performing a hands on activity and understanding the differences in plants.

Included in the 20 page download:
*Correlation to the *Next Generation Science Standards
*Investigation Lesson Plans
*Background Information with Teacher Tips
*A Simple Way to Introduce Measurement and Graphing
