Ahoy! Thar's different ways to teach Systems 'o Equations 'n Inequalities. Take a voyage with me! (NOTE: This project is not written in English it is written in PIRATE).
Students work develop their graphing linear equations and inequalities skills through three different pirate adventures. There is a basic graphing linear equation assignment, a graphing systems of equations assignment and a graphing systems of inequalities project. A pirate crew must navigate the treacherous seas and never venture out of the shaded region (th' serpent 'o unusual size might think ye be grub!)
In this 15 page document you will be given a mapping to the Content Standards, an outline for how to implement the project, and handout resources for students to use.
-- In “Th’ Pirate Code Fer Laddies”, students will graph six linear equations to unscramble a code. Graphing the lines with a straightedge is essential!
-- In “X Marks Th’ Spot”, students will graph six pairs of systems ON THE SAME COORDINATE PLANE. Hence they will have to label and keep themselves organized.
-- In “Treasure Hunter” students take a five puzzle long voyage in which students shade systems of inequalities. The shaded regions are safe for traveling, and at the end of each puzzle they must pass through one of four channels. After they shade the regions they should sketch a path that keeps them safe.
