This Word document is a summary of the Robert Louis Stevenson novel in "Fill in the Blanks" format. There are six pages for students to complete - one for each part of the novel.
Students demonstrate their understanding of the plot by completing the cloze test. Instead of giving students a summary of the plot as notes, I think that students learn better when they actively construct their own. However, for some students this can be a daunting task. I use this technique as a support to students to assist them write their own summary. I also use this to ensure that students have completed independent reading.
This is the type of activity that can be used again for revision. It's a great way to sum up without actually doing all of the work for them. And, they enjoy doing this activity!!
There is a word bank at the end of each section to help students. As this is a Word document, you could remove this to make the activity more challenging.
The solution is also included (11 pages in total).
