Help transition students from adding tens on the number line to combining groups of tens and adding in larger jumps. Students will solve addition problems to get the pirate to the treasure chest.
The addends in the problems are first separated into tens to add on the number line. Students will practice combining these tens into larger groups like 20 or 30 to add in jumps with guided practice. The last two worksheets, students will be decomposing the addend on their own into larger groups of tens and then adding on the number line.
Includes 5 worksheets:
♦ 3 worksheets focus on combining tens from the addend into larger jumps in order to add more efficiently on the number line.
♦ 2 worksheets focus on decomposing or breaking apart the addend into larger jumps of tens and then using those pieces to add on the number line.
♦ an answer key
