Important Note to Teachers
I have created these Treasures Resource Packets to go along with each week of the 3rd grade Treasures book series. I’m using the Copyright 2007/2009 book to create these.
(My unit one book says 2009 and the others say 2007.)
These activities can be used in a variety of ways and are the types of activities and centers that I find helpful in my classroom. All of the packets are very similar and once your students know how to the play the games, they should do well with all of the games and centers for the entire 6 units because I keep the pattern of games and centers the same, meaning that you shouldn’t have to RETEACH how to play the games every week! After a few weeks of using my centers, they should be self explanatory to students!
Please note, if you don’t like the idea of the centers being the VERY SIMILAR each week, this packet may not be for you. This was done on purpose and I have had a *few* buyers complain about this, saying there isn’t enough variety. Just know that every week has the SAME vocab and phonics centers, they just have different words plugged in. My students do well with consistency and structure. Please let me know if you see a mistake, but don’t leave poor feedback on my product because you don’t like the way it’s set up and structured.
For each week, I include 6 games/centers, graphic organizers, response to literature questions, anchor charts, and more! Many teachers have purchased my second grade sets and been very satisfied, so I hope that you are too! I have actually had teachers using my 2nd grade sets, but were moved to third and asked me to create these for third grade.
Basically, as I go through the week in the basal, I look at what skills are the most important for my 3rd graders and what needs to be mastered. I have my students use the “centers” as individual workstations. However, you could also use them in a small group setting as well.
Each week’s packet includes two vocabulary word centers, two phonics centers, two grammar/vocabulary skill centers. All centers include directions and MOST include a recording/accountability sheet for students to fill out and turn in.
