These 5th Grade Treasures Organizers accompany the Treasures basal put out by MacMillan/McGraw-Hill in 2007. There are 25 organizers with answer keys that comprise 289 pages. My fifth grade team puts all of these organizers in a bound book as a wonderful supplement to our reading program. Most of these organizers contain five sections for the students (although teachers are responsible for the first section, and that is the teaching of the vocabulary). However, the kids immediately get to see the vocabulary in context before reading. The five sections are vocabulary, comprehension, compare and contrast, fluency practice, and summarizing. The stories included in this set are as follows: Black Cowboy Wild Horses, Carlos and the Skunk, Davy Crockett Saves the World, Forests of the World (short story), Goin’ Someplace Special, Hidden Worlds, Hurricanes, Maya Linn: Architect of Memory (short story), My Great-Grandmother’s Gourd, Pipiolo and the Roof Dogs, Rattlers, Shiloh, Skunk Scout, Sleds on Boston Common, Spirit of Endurance, The Golden Mare, The Gri Gri Tree, The Night of San Juan, The Unbreakable Code, Time for Kids: Improving Lives (short story). Ultimate Field Trip 5, Up in the Air—The Story of Balloon Flight, Weslandia, When Esther Morris Headed West, and Zathura. The short stories have shorter organizers. You’ll also notice that some of the answer keys do not have every section filled out because of the myriad of possible responses in those sections (this comprises mostly the story elements page that accompanies many of the organizers and some of the compare/contrast sections). Please peruse the first four organizers for free in the preview section. Additionally, I have added numerous 1-2 page organizers for the leveled books that accompany these stories (the organizers include a worksheet and answer key for the approaching, on-level, and beyond books). You can find them by searching for Treasures Leveled Organizers. At this time, they are only available for the fifth grade books. Enjoy!
